River Tubing in Vang Vieng, Laos is BANNED!

Posted by on January 27, 2013

Vang Vieng Laos River Tubing

Once the highlight of most backpacking trips through Laos, there is no River Tubing and River Partying in Vang Vieng anymore – the Lao government has stopped it. Effective already since November 2012, the tubing in the Nam Song River has been stopped. In my opinion the decision is right: More than 20 deaths a year, drug issues, strange alcoholic drinks, injuries not just due to insane water slides – the Lao government took a step and stopped it all. If you haven’t visited Vang Vieng yet, don’t worry there is still lots of things to do, especially exploring Vang Vieng’s beautiful scenery and caves.
